Preparing For Your Float Session

Prepare to Float

We've documented the step by step process of what to expect when coming to float at Vital Float Centre.

1. Email Confirmation

Thank you for booking your appointment. You will receive a confirmation email soon. In the email you will find valuable information, the link to the orientation video, and the link to complete the waiver online prior to your float session.

2. Arrival

Please arrive approximately fifteen minutes early to your scheduled appointment. This will give you time to ask any questions you may have. If you are driving to the Distillery, please add extra time to park. We encourage customers to come walking, biking, or by public transit

3. Checking In

Once you have arrived to your floating location, you will need check in and be shown to a private room.

4. Undressing & Showering

In a private room, floaters will undress, shower, and prepare to enter the float room. Showering helps to eliminate any lotions or oils on the body. Floaters will have access to a robe, towels, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner in their rooms. It is recommended that floaters float naked.

5. Entering The Float Room & Getting Comfortable

Once showered, the floater can put earplugs in and will be ready to open the float room door, enter, and close the door. There will be a light on and music playing in the room to help you become comfortable. Once ready, you can choose to turn off the light.

6. Float Begins

During your one hour float, you can come to expect the following:

Loss of Gravity

Our float rooms hold roughly one foot of water, which is saturated with approximately 1000 lbs. of Epsom salt. This solution becomes so dense that floaters can float on the surface of the water - feeling weightless.

Your Body

Your musculoskeletal system and nervous system will experience buoyancy. In other words, you'll feel a sensation of floating - without knowing where the water begins and your body ends. The cabin environment allows for minimal amount of sensory input, helping you to achieve intense relaxation.

Light & Sound

The Vital Float Centre rooms are insulated against sound and light. However, you do have the option to turn lights and sound on if you would like.

The water is kept at a temperature of around 93-95°F / 34-35°C, which is the average external temperature of your body.

For more information, please visit our Floating page.

7. Float Ends

When the float is complete, the lights will come on and some music will begin, and you may open the float room. Floaters are encouraged to shower to remove salt from their skin.

8. Relax in the Lounge

Once you have showered, Vital Float invites you to relax in the float lounge, where you will have access to tea, water, reading, and journaling materials.

Helpful Tips to Remember
  • Air can flow in and out of the float room
  • The door never locks or latches
  • The cabin is light-proof, sound-proof, and has a neutral smell.
